Test devices

In the Sandbox, only phones you approve receive anything. Approve your team's phones here, or give QA a registration code.

Go to Configuration › Test Devices. The menu item only shows in a Sandbox; in Production the page explains that test devices live in the Sandbox and offers Switch to Sandbox. Everyone can see the page; owners, admins and developers can change it.

A phone that starts your app with the pk_test_ key waits under Pending until someone approves it. Up to 25 phones can be approved at once, and unapproved phones drop off after 7 days.

Approve your phone#

  1. 1
    Open the window
Click Add a test device. The drawer watches for new phones for 10 minutes.
  2. 2
    Start your app
Open your app, built with the Sandbox key, on the phone. It appears in the drawer within seconds.
  3. 3
    Match the code
Your app logs a code when it starts: "Bubbl sandbox: approve this device with code …". Check it matches the phone's Code.
  4. 4
    Approve it
Click Approve. The phone moves to Approved and starts getting the Sandbox's campaigns.

If the window closes, approve the phone from the Pending list instead.

Registration codes#

For QA teams and device farms, click Issue code under Registration codes. The code is shown once: copy it and have the app call Bubbl.registerTestDevice with it, and the phone is approved at once. Each code works for one phone within 24 hours; Revoke cancels an unused one.

Manage approved phones#

The Approved table shows each phone's app, when it was last seen and when it was approved. Click Send test push to check push works on it, or Revoke to take it off; it has to register again to get the Sandbox. A phone using the Showcase app shows as Showcase · not counted and doesn't count towards the 25.

Recent activity lists who approved, revoked or registered what, and when.

Nothing arriving on an approved phone?Check the phone has a push token and your push credentials are set up: Send test push says what's wrong if it fails. See Testing and diagnostics for the SDK's side.
