Segments

Segments are tags your app sets on each device through the SDK. Here you see who carries each one, name them, and choose which can be targeted.

You don't create segments in the dashboard. Your app sets them on a device, for example with Bubbl.setSegments(["vip"]), and a segment appears here the first time a device reports it. See Segments and events for the SDK side.

The segments list#

Open Company › Segments. The cards at the top count Segmented devices and how many segments are Targetable. The table shows each segment's label and key, its Devices with the change this week, the campaigns it's Used by, and whether Targeting is on.

Manage a segment#

Owners and admins can change segments; everyone else can view them.

  1. 1
    Open it
Click a segment to open its sheet: Devices, Last set, the Last 7 days, the campaigns using it and its Platforms.
  2. 2
    Give it a readable label
Choose Rename label from the row's menu, or edit the label in the sheet and click Save. The key your app sends doesn't change.
  3. 3
    Turn targeting on or off
Use the Targeting toggle. A switched-off segment can't be added to a campaign, and campaigns already using it don't reach its devices.
  4. 4
    Hide one you don't need
Choose Hide segment from the row's menu to take it out of the list and the campaign pickers. Copy key copies the key your app uses.

Use segments in a campaign#

In a campaign's Audience (geo or push), choose Segments, click + Add segment for each one, and choose Any of these or All of these. Estimated reach shows how many devices match. Or open a segment and click Create push campaign for ….

Keep keys consistentAgree a naming pattern with your developers, like membership_gold or interest_hiking, so the list stays readable as it grows. Rename labels here for your marketing team without touching the app.
