Create a geo campaign

A geo campaign sends a notification when a phone enters or leaves one of its locations, to every device or only to the segments you choose.

  1. 1
    Open the form
Go to Campaigns › Create Campaign, or click Create campaign on the campaigns overview.
  2. 2
    Name it
Under Campaign details, enter a Campaign name. Only your team sees it, and it must be unique in the workspace.
  3. 3
    Choose where it activates
Under Target scope, pick Locations or Groups and click each card you want; a tick marks it and the badge counts your targets. If a place is missing, Create location opens the location editor in a new tab.
  4. 4
    Choose who it reaches
Under Audience, keep All devices so any phone that enters or leaves fires it, or choose Segments and click + Add segment for each one. With more than one, choose Any of these or All of these. Estimated reach updates as you go.
  5. 5
    Set the schedule
Under Schedule, pick when it Runs: a start, and an optional end (leave it open to keep the campaign running). Choose the Timezone the times are in; it defaults to your company's.
  6. 6
    Attach notifications
Under Notifications, click Attach existing and Attach a saved notification, or click Create notification to write a new message here. Create notification here is message-only; surveys aren't supported on this drawer yet, so build a survey notification separately and attach it with Attach existing.
  7. 7
    Choose the activation
In the Activation drawer, choose On enter (when the phone enters a campaign location) or On exit (when it leaves). Optionally set When it can fire to a window inside the campaign's dates, then click Confirm and save.
  8. 8
    Create the campaign
Repeat for each notification, then click Create campaign. It's Scheduled until its start time and then Active.

Re-trigger options#

By default a campaign follows the workspace's rules for how often a notification can reach the same phone: the Trigger limit in Plugin and the Re-trigger cooldown in Delivery rules. To set a limit for this campaign, turn on Override and set Max times and Per (Day, Week or Month).

Segments on a geo campaign#

With Segments chosen, Bubbl only gives the campaign's geofences to phones that carry them (any or all, as you chose), so other phones never fire it. A segment switched off under Company › Segments stops counting.

What the form checks#

  • A geo campaign needs at least one location or group: "Pick at least one location, or switch to a push campaign."
  • The start and end can't be before today, and the end must be after the start.
  • A notification's window has to sit inside the campaign's dates.
Every campaign needs a notificationA campaign with no notification attached sends nothing. The Notifications card shows 0 attached in amber until you add one.
Geofence limits apply across campaignsA phone can only watch a limited number of geofences at once, counting every campaign together: 20 on iOS and 100 on Android. Where several campaigns cover the same area, read Geofence limits before adding more locations.
Test in the Sandbox firstBuild the campaign in your Sandbox and walk into the location with an approved test device before you copy it to Production.
