Developers and the SDK API key
The SDK API key your app starts Bubbl with, the address it talks to, and how the SDK and push setup are doing in this workspace.
Configuration › Developers with the SDK API key card, Quick start, SDK health and Push setup
Go to Configuration › Developers. Owners, admins and developers can open it, in every Sandbox and in Production on a paid plan. Each workspace has its own key.
The SDK API key#
| Workspace | Key | Where it works |
|---|---|---|
| Sandbox | pk_test_… | The Sandbox API address, for approved test devices |
| Production | pk_live_… | The Production API address, for every install |
The key is marked Public: it's safe to ship in your app, because it can only register devices and report events. Under it, API address is the SDK's base URL for this workspace; a key only works at its own workspace's address.
API addressesThe Sandbox address is
https://api.sandbox.bubbl.tech and Production is https://api.bubbl.tech. Until SDK 5.0 is released they are https://api.sandbox.staging.bubbl.tech and https://api.staging.bubbl.tech.- 1Reveal or copy the keyClick Reveal to show it or Copy to copy it. Both ask you to confirm it's you first.
- 2Rotate itClick Rotate key and choose Keep the old key for 7 days (recommended), so app builds already in the stores keep registering new installs while you ship an update, or Revoke the old key now. Confirm with Rotate key.
- 3End the grace period earlyWhile the old key still works, a banner says until when and how many new installs have used it. Click Revoke now to stop it straight away.
The rest of the page#
- Quick start has the install and start snippets for iOS, Android, React Native and Flutter with your key and address filled in, and Set up the SDK for the guided setup.
- Going live (in the Sandbox) lists the steps to real users: subscribe to a paid plan, add push credentials to Production, and ship the
pk_live_key and the Production address. - SDK health shows the devices registered, the Last check-in and SDK versions in use, with a link to test devices.
- Push setup shows whether Firebase (Android) and Apple Push (iOS) are connected, with Set up →, Fix → or Manage.
Rotate if a key leaks into the wrong placeThe key is public, but rotate it if it turns up somewhere it shouldn't, such as another company's app. Keep the 7-day grace so your live app keeps registering new installs until the update ships.
