Firebase (Android push)

Upload your Firebase service account so Bubbl can send push notifications to Android devices, and optionally your google-services.json so your app doesn't need to include it.

Go to Configuration › Firebase. Owners, admins and developers can open it, in every Sandbox and in Production on a paid plan. iOS pushes don't use Firebase: they go straight to Apple, see Apple Push.

Upload the service account#

  1. 1
    Download the key from Firebase
In the Firebase console, create a service-account key for your project and download its JSON file.
  2. 2
    Drop it on the page
Under Credentials, drop the file on Drop the service-account JSON here, or click to choose it.
  3. 3
    Validate and upload
Click Validate and upload and confirm it's you. Bubbl checks the key with Firebase before saving it, then shows the Project, Account and when it was Updated.

To remove the key, click Delete credentials and type the project ID to confirm. Push campaigns stop sending to Android until new credentials are uploaded.

Android apps (optional)#

Under Android apps, drop your project's google-services.json (from Firebase › Project settings › Your apps; it must be the same project as the key) and click Check and save. Your Android apps then don't need to include the file: the Bubbl SDK sets up Firebase for them. Remove takes it off again; apps without their own google-services.json then stop receiving push.

Send a test push#

Under Send a test push, enter the device's Token (last 7 characters), or paste the Full token for a device that hasn't registered with this dashboard yet. Change the Title and Message if you like, then click Send test. To find a phone, look it up by its install ID in Active users, where you can also send it a test push.

Sandbox: whose credentials#

In a Sandbox, Push credentials for this Sandbox at the top of the page chooses This Sandbox's credentials or Production's, so you upload them once. With Production's chosen, anything uploaded on the Sandbox page isn't used.

Upload to Production before you go livePush credentials belong to a workspace. Before going live, add them to Production, or set the Sandbox to use Production's from the start.

For the app side, see Push notifications and Dashboard setup.
