Apple Push (iOS push)

Add each iOS app's APNs auth key so Bubbl can send push notifications straight to Apple.

Go to Configuration › Apple Push. Owners, admins and developers can open it, in every Sandbox and in Production on a paid plan. iOS pushes go straight to Apple (APNs) with each app's auth key; Android still goes through Firebase.

Add an app#

  1. 1
    Create a key at Apple
At developer.apple.com › Keys, create a key with Apple Push Notifications enabled and download the .p8 file. Note its Key ID and your Team ID.
  2. 2
    Enter the app's details
Under Add an app, enter the app's Bundle ID, the Key ID and the Team ID.
  3. 3
    Attach the key
Choose the file under APNs auth key (.p8).
  4. 4
    Check and save
Click Check and save and confirm it's you. Bubbl checks the key with Apple before saving it.

The app then appears under iOS apps with its key, team and when it was updated. Adding a Bundle ID that's already there replaces its key. Remove takes an app's key off; its iOS devices get no pushes until a key is uploaded again.

Send a test push#

Under Send a test push, choose the App and enter the device's Token (last 7 characters). For a device that hasn't registered with this dashboard yet, paste the Full APNs token and choose the Environment (with a full token): Production (TestFlight, App Store) or Sandbox (Xcode builds). Click Send test. To find a phone, look it up by its install ID in Active users.

Sandbox: whose credentials#

In a Sandbox, Push credentials for this Sandbox at the top of the page chooses This Sandbox's credentials or Production's. With Production's, the Sandbox sends with Production's Firebase and Apple credentials, and anything uploaded to the Sandbox isn't used.

One key, many appsAn APNs auth key isn't tied to one app, so you can add the same .p8 for each Bundle ID in your team.

For the app side, see Push notifications and Dashboard setup.
