Segment Management

Segmentation is what makes a notification feel like a helpful tip rather than an annoying ad.

Audience Segmentation

Don't just talk to everyone —talk to the right people. Segments allow you to group your users based on their interests, behaviors, or membership levels.

What is a Segment?

A segment is a "label" (or Tag) attached to a user within your app. When you create a campaign, you can choose to target only the users who have a specific tag.

Example: Tag users who have visited your "Sports" section as #SportsFans.

Action: Send them a notification when they are near a stadium, while skipping users who aren't interested in sports.

Creating & Syncing Segments

You can manage your audience from the Segment Management Page.

API Sync: Our plugin automatically syncs segments from your existing App database. As a user's status changes in your system, their Bubbl segment updates instantly.

Using Segments in Campaigns

When setting up a Campaign, you’ll see the Segmentation section:

Include: "Only show this to users with the #Student tag."

Global: Leave segments blank to reach every user who enters your geofence.

Smart Segmentation Ideas

Not sure where to start? Here are the most effective ways to segment:

Loyalty Status: Target #Gold members with exclusive high-value rewards.

Interests: Tag users based on the content they view most in your app (e.g., #Vegan, #Tech, #Fashion).

Activity Level: Re-engage users who haven't opened the app in 30 days with a #WinBack tag. .

Tip Pro-Tips for Precise Targeting

The "Power of AND": You can combine segments to get hyper-specific.

Target users who are #VIP AND #FootballFans for a premium experience at a specific match.

Keep Tags Simple: Use a consistent naming convention like Category_Value (e.g., Membership_Basic or Interest_Hiking) to keep your list organised as your audience grows.

Segment Strategy Table

Segment Tag Who are they? Perfect Notification
#NewUser People who joined in the last 7 days. "Welcome! Here is a 10% discount for your first visit."
#FrequentFlyer Users who trigger geofences often. "Thanks for being a regular. Grab a free coffee on us today."
#Lapsed Users who haven't been active recently. "We've missed you! Come see what's new at our Soho store."
